FAQ

Got Questions? Maybe these answers can help you.

Q: My Air Conditioner is leaking water. Help!

A: A leaking air conditioner is almost always a result of a blockage within the drain pipe or internal drainage network. If your air conditioner is leaking water, you can safely assume the internal surfaces within your air conditioner are nasty. Your best option is to have your air conditioner disassembled and thoroughly cleaned by an EcoAir Clean service technician. You will even get a full 12 month guarantee against any future leaks.

Q: Is your procedure messy?

A: The cleaning process is a messy one. We are brushing and flushing away all manner of nasty black build-up of god knows what and that is YUCK! But.. We also have many measures in place to ensure nothing of yours end up dirty. We use drop sheets, tarps, towels, whatever’s necessary, and our various, custom-made catchment devices contain all of the mess as it is washed out of your air conditioner. We then get rid of this “black soup” for you (unless you want to keep it for show & tell) and leave the area cleaner than when we arrived.

Q: Are your cleaning and treatment products safe and non-toxic?

A: Yes. Unlike some of the harsh chemicals getting around the industry, all of the products we use are plant derived, non-toxic, environmentally friendly and biodegradable. Some of the products we have seen used can make a real mess and can actually melt plastics, weaken metals, severely irritate skin and lead to respiratory complications. No thanks!

Q: Do we need to move furniture?

A: We will need a decent space in front of your air conditioner, so yes sometimes beds or sofas etc. are best moved prior to our work. We are more than happy to assist or even take care of this step for you entirely.

Q: My Air Conditioner is noisy and/or rattling. Will your service quieten it so we can get some sleep again?

A: Most likely yes. The noise coming from your air conditioner could be from one of two sources: a vibration or a noisy fan motor bearing. A noisy fan motor bearing normally requires that you replace the fan motor. The vibration however, is due to an imbalance with your fan barrel, either due to a build-up or warpage. Warpage may require that you replace the fan barrel. If it is just a build-up causing the imbalance, and fortunately this is by far the most common cause, an EcoAir Clean will definitely quieten your air conditioner. Plus, as a bonus, preventing this imbalance will also help prevent warpage and bearing wear! Win win.

Q: My Air Conditioner smells horrible. Can you make it smell nice again?

A: Absolutely yes. You have come to the right place. Many things can cause an air conditioner to smell. Mould and mildew, slimy drain sludge, dead geckos, rodents, frogs, toads (yes toads) and more. We will brush and flush away all smelly contaminants and once all surfaces are spotless, apply our bactericidal spray which leaves your air conditioner smelling nice and fresh.

Q: My Air Conditioner is not cooling at all or not turning on. Should I call you or someone else?

A: If your air conditioner is less than 5 years old, it is probably under warranty. Simply call the manufacturer of your unit and ask for the details of warranty agents in your area. If you have any questions around faulty air conditioners at all, please feel free to call us anytime on 0438678769. We can take care of your air conditioner faults most of the time, and if we can’t attend site straight away, we can certainly point you in the right direction at no cost.

Q: My Air Conditioner is not as cold as it used to be. Would a clean make it cooler again?

A: An EcoAir Clean? Almost certainly yes. An air conditioner’s power and cooling capacity will diminish the dirtier it gets internally. We often hear of customers needing to drop the temp on the remote just to get the same cooling effects in the room. This is typical of an air conditioner with a dirty coil and/or fan barrel.

Q: My Air Conditioner doesn’t seem to be blowing much air and/or is huffing and puffing. Is this something you can fix?

A: Yes. Absolutely. Certainly. 100%. We will have your airflow purring powerfully once again, like a new unit.

Q: How often should I clean my Air Conditioner?

A: Our official recommendation is annually. Theoretically this may depend on the amount of time your air conditioner is turned on, among other factors. The legal requirement however points to once a year. According to the Australian building standards it is the owner’s responsibility to safeguard a house against illness or injury, going on to specify that all air handling units (air conditioners) should be inspected and cleaned when necessary annually. For more information around this, refer to Standard AS/NZD3666.2:2002. If you would like a copy, you can download it for free HERE.
